Day 1 - London
Arrive in London and check into hotel. Visit the London Eye.
June 15th, 2023 - London, England
I'm still pinching myself as I scribble these words by hand in my journal. We finally arrived in London this morning after a long flight from New York. The kids, Olly and Sally, were bubbling over with excitement as we stepped off the plane at Heathrow. After checking into our hotel near Westminster, we set out to see one of the city's most iconic landmarks - the London Eye.
As we boarded the glass-enclosed capsule, I felt a thrill of anticipation. The views of the Thames and the city's skyline were simply breathtaking. We floated above the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and the majestic St Paul's Cathedral. The kids squealed with delight as we glided over the river. After our thrilling ride, we strolled along the South Bank of the Thames, taking in the street performers and vendors. Dinner was a traditional English pub fare - fish and chips, mushy peas, and a pint of ale for Dad. I'm exhausted but exhilarated after this jam-packed day. Tomorrow promises to be just as action-packed.

August 15, 2023 - London
As I step out into the crisp morning air, the sounds of the city assault my senses: car horns blaring, pedestrians chattering, and the distant rumble of buses on the main thoroughfare. We've arrived in London after a long flight from America, and today's agenda is packed with history and wonder.
We made our way to the Tower of London, its imposing stone walls a testament to centuries past. The Yeoman Warders (or Beefeaters) in their crisp red and blue uniforms greeted us at the entrance, and we spent hours exploring the labyrinthine passageways and exhibitions within. I was struck by the somber grandeur of the Crown Jewels on display - rubies that glinted like dark fire, diamonds that shone with icy brilliance.
After a leisurely lunch in nearby Borough Market (the smell of roasting meats and freshly baked bread still wafts through my memory), we strolled along the South Bank of the Thames. The sun cast a warm glow on the water, where boats of every shape and size bobbed gently against the riverbank. The kids, Olly and Sally, chased each other through the crowds, laughing and shrieking with abandon. It's days like these that remind me why I love family travel - the freedom to explore, to experience the world together as a unit.

The air is filled with the murmur of visitors, but as we walk towards the stones, it's as if time stands still.
We spend hours exploring the mysterious circle, learning about its history and significance from the knowledgeable guides. The sheer scale of the structure is awe-inspiring – I can only imagine what an ancient druid might have felt standing amidst these towering monoliths. A chilly breeze picked up later, carrying the pungent aroma of zebras and giraffes.
